Go ahead and live your dream
The Story of Emilio and his Taste for Sports and Robotics
We have heard that combining some sports can help improve our fitness and health; however, one of our patients goes further by combining various disciplines that have helped him improve his health. Emilio, who is an active patient at Shriners Hospital with a diagnosis of bilateral clubfoot, has undergone a long treatment that included three surgeries, one of them including a tendon transfer. Currently he is 12 years old, and he tells us that he practices soccer, swimming and has participated in robotics competitions, where he got the first position. He adds that what he likes most about the sports he practices is that, with soccer, he can improve his coordination and agility, while swimming helps him relax and gives him a lot of peace of mind.
Hospital treatment has helped him play the sports he likes
“I have noticed greater strength in my feet and I no longer run on tiptoes like I used to,” says Emilio, who mentions that when he grew up he would like to be an automotive engineer. Apart from his great taste for sports, Emilio likes robotics, and has participated in different contests in this area.
What is your biggest dream?
“To have an automotive company and one that helps people in need,” says Emilio. He tells us that what he likes most about the Hospital is the care he has received and the treatments they have provided.
The Message:
“You set your own limits, and the more you dream, the more you will be able to achieve,” concludes Emilio.
