Monthly Mugs – Understanding Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome: Diagnosis, Pathophysiology and Treatment

Education through sharing our knowledge is part of our mission. Join the medical professionals of Shriners Children's Twin Cities for a monthly webinar series, Monthly Mugs: Education Brewed for the Healthcare Community. These webinars are provided at no cost by Shriners Children's. Registration is always required.

Join Shriners Children's December 18 as Christopher S. Vara, M.D., presents Understanding Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. During this webinar, learners will:

  1. Understand the clinical presentation and diagnostic criteria of Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS). Attendees will learn to identify the key clinical signs and symptoms of EDS and gain familiarity with the diagnostic criteria used to differentiate various types of EDS.
  2. Explore the genetic basis and pathophysiology of EDS. The talk will cover the genetic mutations and molecular mechanisms that underlie the different forms of EDS, highlighting the role of collagen and other connective tissue abnormalities in the disease’s progression.
  3. Discuss management strategies and multidisciplinary care for EDS patients. Attendees will gain insight into current treatment approaches, including pain management, physical therapy and genetic counseling, as well as the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to care for individuals with EDS.
