Walk for LOVE Update

When we announced in April that our Walk for LOVE™ event on Saturday, October 3 is being held at the Philadelphia Zoo, we knew it was going to be evolving as we got closer to the event date.

We recently announced that we are still moving forward in person for the sixth annual Walk for LOVE, but without the 5K component, due to the guidance from the event staff at the Philadelphia Zoo. Most recently, we had a site visit for the event, and we are pivoting again. The Walk for LOVE on Saturday, October 3 will now be more of a private walkabout stroll through the zoo. We will forgo a formal “ready, set, go!” type of format to safely adhere to social distancing guidelines. Upon registration, you will be able to explore the zoo with your mask on while keeping your distance from others. The zoo staff has done a great job of adding paw prints on the walkway to keep people aware. At 9 a.m., if you choose, you can join us on the large lawn where the stage area is, near the Outback Outpost exhibit, for our awards program. At 9:30 a.m. the zoo will open and will have limited tickets available to the public, depending on the occupancy from our event.

From now until July 31:

  • $25, adults will receive zoo admission and a T-shirt
  • $15, youths (2-18) will receive zoo admission and a T-shirt
  • Registration is free for all past and current patients

For those who would like to support Walk for LOVE but will not be able to make it to the event, you can register as a virtual walker for $25. No zoo admission is included, but a T-shirt will be mailed after the event date.

Since 2015, Shriners Hospitals for Children — Philadelphia has hosted Walk for LOVE, a 1-mile fun walk and family festival benefiting our hospital, with more than $630,872 raised over the years. Numerous past and current patients, families, donors, Shriners and others have walked to support our mission. Please join us!
