Greenville Staff Praised for 2020 Press Ganey Inpatient Guardian of Excellence Award

Shriners Hospitals for Children — Greenville announced that, for the sixth time in seven years, the hospital was honored by Press Ganey with the Inpatient Guardian of Excellence Award. Press Ganey helps health care organizations improve safety, quality and experience of care through performance analytics and strategic advisory solutions.

The Inpatient Guardian of Excellence Award is presented to hospitals achieving high standards on a survey measuring patient satisfaction. Only the top 5% of all comparable hospitals in the nation receive this level of recognition.

“When a team or organization wins frequently, they may start to lose perspective regarding how truly significant another victory is ... I want to remind you: This win is HUGE,” said Bill Munley, hospital administrator, in a letter to employees. “This is a testament to the important contributions of each and every employee.”

Munley reminded the staff that the honor is not an accomplishment achieved exclusively by clinical services, medical staff or the nursing team, saying, “Nutrition, environmental services, engineering, registration, security and all others play an equally vital role. A delicious meal, clean bed, comfortable room temperature, efficient check-in, safe stay and all other details – big and small – are necessary in the total patient care experience.”

The Press Ganey survey seeks ratings from parents and guardians of patients, and includes categories like “Likelihood to Recommend,” “Teamwork” and “Overall Rating.”

The award will join the six others on display in the hospital’s lobby.
