Orthopaedic Surgeon Jacob Carl, M.D., Joins the Team!

We are happy to welcome Jacob Carl, M.D., to our medical staff. Dr. Carl is a pediatric orthopaedic surgeon with an emphasis in sports medicine in children. After earning his medical degree at SUNY Downstate Medical Center, Dr. Carl completed his residency training at UC Davis Medical Center, a large tertiary referral center in Northern California where sports medicine was a major component of his training.

This training provided an excellent foundation of arthroscopic skills and experience. Following his residency, he completed his pediatric orthopaedic fellowship from Cincinnati Children’s Hospital where, in addition to general pediatric training, he focused on the subspecialty of pediatric sports medicine with several experts in the field.

"As a former athlete, I know the importance that sports participation plays in a young child and adolescent’s life. I have had my own experience with season-ending injuries and know the difficult struggle our patients go through with surgery and recovery. My goal is to provide specialized clinical care to our young athletes and get them back to their pre-injury level," said Dr. Carl.

Dr. Carl is looking forward to joining a medical staff focused exclusively on pediatric orthopaedic care where he will be a part of a collaborative team to care for his patients. "We are pleased to have Dr. Carl join our talented staff of pediatric orthopaedic surgeons. Dr. Carl is an incredibly skilled surgeon who will certainly be a great addition to our team and a welcomed resource to our community," said Glen Baird, M.D., chief of staff.

Growing up in California, Dr. Carl and his family were all very active in sports and outdoor recreational activities. Choosing to move to the Inland Northwest was an easy decision for Dr. Carl, as he is looking to take in all the many recreation opportunities the region has to offer such as paddle boarding, snowboarding, basketball and hiking.
