David S. Rocchino Family Foundation Makes Large Donation to Shriners Children's Philadelphia

People often say it is not what you know, it is who you know.

The connections you make with others will lead you to paths you may not have taken. This is the tale of the two Davids.

Dave Caddick is a well-established businessman who is also a member of LuLu Shriners, a chapter of the Shriners International fraternity. David Rocchino is a well-established businessman right outside of Philadelphia in the suburbs. Dave and David have been in the same circles through their connection to Penn State Abington. They both sat on advisory boards and got to know one another, and even enjoyed supporting each other through various events. One of Dave's events was the LuLu Shriners Golf Tournament, which benefits the Philadelphia Shriners Hospital, and introduced David to the hospital.

In 2015 David and his wife, Elisa, established their family foundation. All three of their children sit on the advisory board, as well as three outside board members, including Elena Kriebel, the treasurer of the Foundation. Over the years, the foundation has supported the Penn State Schreyer Honors College, animal rights organizations and women's shelters. This year in 2022, they decided to donate to Shriners Children's because of Dave Caddick and David's relationship.

David and Elisa Rocchino, Elena Kriebel and Dave Caddick presented the donation to Shriners Children's staff members and met Belinda. Belinda is a 15-year-old Patient Ambassador of the hospital. Since she was 8, Belinda has been coming to the hospital for arthrogryposis care. Arthrogryposis is contractures of the joints, including hands, arms and legs. Arthrogryposis is not curable, but it is very treatable! Usually, the goal of treatment is to make a person as independent as possible in activities of daily living. Belinda is an active teen who is into the arts. She has a beautiful singing voice, is part of the school choir, paints by mouth and enjoys sharing her story as a Patient Ambassador. Belinda was recently featured in a Shriners Children's commercial.

Belinda and all of the patients at the hospital are thankful for the support that the David S. Rocchino Family Foundation has given. Their donation of $25,000 enabled them the opportunity to represent something special at the hospital and name the pre-op bay in the pre-anesthesia care unit after their foundation.
