Shriners Children’s Chief of Psychology Named 2023 Fellow of American Spinal Injury Association
Kathy Zebracki, Ph,D., chief of psychology at Shriners Children’s Chicago, will be a 2023 Fellow of the American Spinal Injury Association (ASIA). This fellowship is “an honor bestowed by the Board of Directors in recognition of longstanding dedication to, and distinguished accomplishments within, the fields of spinal cord injury research, clinical practice, education, and/or advocacy or the longstanding active membership in and service to ASIA.”
“Dr. Zebracki has a national and international reputation as an investigator, educator, and contributor to the pediatric spinal cord injury field,” the announcement said.
Dr. Zebracki is an active clinician, researcher and educator. Her research focus is in the area of psychosocial and medical outcomes of youths with spinal cord dysfunctions. She also serves as a clinical and research mentor for clinical psychology doctoral students, and a postdoctoral fellow at the Chicago hospital, one of three Shriners Children's locations with a specialty in pediatric spinal cord injury rehabilitation.
Dr. Zebracki is a co-editor of the textbooks, Spinal Cord Injury in the Child and Young Adult and Paediatric Neuropsychology Within the Multidisciplinary Context. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters, and has given 150 presentations at national and international meetings.
Dr. Zebracki and the other 2023 ASIA fellows will be honored in April at the organization's annual scientific meeting.
