Patient Honored With Grant From Baskin-Robbins Pint-Sized Heroes Program on National Superhero Day
On National Superhero Day 2023, the Baskin-Robbins Joy in Childhood Foundation surprised and celebrated Sebastian, a patient and local superhero at Shriners Children’s Southern California, as its newest Pint-Sized Hero! Sebastian is a 14-year-old who was diagnosed with osteogenesis imperfecta when he was an infant. Regardless of the broken bones and countless surgeries Sebastian has endured in his life, he has adopted a positive, inspiring, pay-it-forward attitude and strives to help other kids who may be facing similar challenges. He has made it a goal to give back, raise money, and organize toy drives benefiting the young patients at Shriners Children’s Southern California.
With the help of his family, Sebastian has organized several toy drives to benefit Shriners Children's patients. He also founded "Born 4 Fast," a charity event that brings local car communities together for a good cause. Through his efforts and social media presence, he has worked diligently to raise funds by organizing car rallies, inviting all his car enthusiast friends to go on fun drives through Southern California.
“Sebastian and his family have been a tremendous support to the child life program, and we appreciate everything he does for us. His passion to help has made an impact on many patients,” said Natalie Chicas, child life specialist.
In Sebastian’s honor, the Baskin-Robbins Joy in Childhood Foundation granted $31,000 to Shriners Children’s Southern California to use on child life programming, and Sebastian will help decide specifically how the grant will be used to bring joy to patients. To show their gratitude to Sebastian for radiating positivity and passion for his community, as a Pint-Sized Hero, Baskin-Robbins is treating him to a year of free ice cream, so he can celebrate every sweet moment!
