Ahmad F. Bayomy, M.D., is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon at Shriners Children's Portland, with subspecialty fellowship training in both pediatric orthopedics and orthopedic sports medicine. He focuses on the orthopedic care of fractures and sports-related injuries in children and adolescents, partnering with athletic trainers and other healthcare providers.
Dr. Bayomy’s first priority is excellent patient care, and he is also involved in orthopedic education and clinical research. When approaching patients and their families, he draws on personal experience, growing up alongside a brother with a brittle bone condition that resulted in numerous fractures.
Dr. Bayomy takes many things into consideration: the patient's goals, the family's needs, the impact that any intervention may have on normal processes (e.g., leg growth), the scientific evidence for treatment success, and the logistics of the rehabilitation process, among others. He enjoys developing a care plan with each family and the interdisciplinary team at Shriners Children's that seeks to optimize these factors.
Areas of special interest to Dr. Bayomy include the management of fractures, shoulder instability, ACL and meniscal tears, knee/elbow/ankle OCD lesions, patellofemoral instability, and lower extremity deformities. He is a member of Pediatric Research in Sports Medicine, the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.
