Thomas L. Halvorson, M.D., is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, with a fellowship in sports medicine and arthroscopy from the Orthopedic Specialty Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. After receiving his medical degree at Tulane University, he remained and completed his residency at Tulane University as well. He joins Shriners Children’s Spokane’s comprehensive sports medicine team of doctors, athletic trainers and physical therapists, providing care for our patients in the outpatient clinic and surgery.
Dr. Halvorson brings many years of experience in orthopedics and sports medicine. He held the medical director position at the Rockwood Clinic ASC in Spokane, and the chief medical officer at the Orthopedic Specialty Institute, also in Spokane. He most recently was an orthopedic surgeon at Prosser Memorial Health, in Prosser, Washington.
His sports medicine career has extended outside of medical locations caring for high school, college and professional athletes. Dr. Halvorson has been the team physician for Eastern Washington University, the Spokane Shock Arena2 Football, and served as the training camp physician for the New Orleans Saints football team!
Growing up in Montana spurred a love of outdoor activities. When he is not treating Shriners Children’s Spokane patient’s sports related injuries, Dr. Halvorson is spending time with his family biking, skiing and wake surfing.
