Pravin K. Patel, M.D., is a board-certified craniofacial and pediatric plastic surgeon, and past chief of our pediatric plastic surgery program and the cleft lip and palate service.
Dr. Patel has a research interest in skeletal biomechanical engineering and has been instrumental in bringing advanced 3D printing for surgical planning and virtual surgery techniques to our Chicago hospital. He is a previous winner of excellence in undergraduate teaching at Mayo Clinic, and has been recognized as one of Chicago's Top Doctors multiple times.
Dr. Patel also practices at University of Illinois Health and is a former director of cleft and craniofacial surgery at Children's Memorial Hospital (now Lurie Children's). He is a member of the American Society of Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Association, American Society of Plastic Surgeons, Midwestern Association of Plastic Surgeons, Health for Humanity and American Association of Plastic Surgeons. Dr. Patel has shared his expertise and love of helping change children's lives through pediatric plastic surgery with countless medical residents.
