Micah K. Sinclair, M.D., attended Georgetown University for both her undergraduate degree in chemistry and her medical degree. Dr. Sinclair believes strongly in the ideal of "cura personalis," which Georgetown University Medical School embodies. It simply means "care for the whole person." She strives for this level of attention with her patients.
After graduation, Dr. Sinclair moved to the Midwest for her residency at Loyola University Medical Center in the Chicagoland area. Having been inspired by and fortunate to work with internationally recognized adult and pediatric hand surgeons, she chose to pursue hand surgery. She went on to a fellowship at the University of Utah, which allowed her to train in adult and pediatric hand surgery. Dr. Sinclair began her career at the University of Cincinnati, working with the Mary S. Stern Fellowship.
When the opportunity arose, Dr. Sinclair returned to her hometown of Kansas City to exclusively become a pediatric hand surgeon at Children’s Mercy Hospital. This provided her with the challenging and creative opportunity to pursue hand surgery involving congenital hand and upper extremity differences in children and adolescents, which she was passionate about during her training. During her time at Children’s Mercy Hospital, she served as the director of the summer scholars program for orthopedic medical student research, the medical director of quality, safety and value for the orthopedic surgery department, and the director of the just, equitable, diverse and inclusion committee for the University of Missouri – Kansas City orthopedic residency program. Dr. Sinclair frequently participates in international service trips, which have included visits to India, Bhutan, Columbia, South Africa and, most recently, Honduras.
She is excited to use her leadership and clinical experience in her new role as the medical director of hand surgery at Shriners Children’s Northern California, which aligns with her values in its three-part mission of providing compassionate, innovative care, conducting research and offering educational opportunities.
