Shriners Hospital in Salt Lake City Receives Two 2020 Press Ganey Awards
Shriners Hospitals for Children — Salt Lake City is consistently recognized as a top workplace and leader in pediatric orthopaedic care, but the accolade that’s most rewarding is recognition from the patients the staff has the privilege of serving.
Press Ganey – a leader in health care performance improvement and measurement – is the platform through which the hospital staff receives feedback from patients about their patient journey for health care performance improvement purposes. The hospital is consistently ranked in the high 90s by patients – considered extraordinarily high by industry standards. Those consistently high scores have led to two top honors from Press Ganey:
- 2020 Guardian of Excellence Award® winner for Patient Experience in Inpatient Pediatric
- 2020 Pinnacle of Excellence Award® winner for Patient Experience in Ambulatory Surgery
According to Kevin Martin, hospital administrator, the award represents an important recognition from the industry’s leader in measuring, understanding and improving the delivery of care. “This award is so significant because it represents direct feedback from our patients and families,” said Martin. “So much of what we do every day is behind closed doors or in other confidential settings not seen or heard by others. Press Ganey data helps to uncover and recognize our employees who really make a difference!”
The Pinnacle of Excellence Award recognizes top-performing clients from health care organizations nationwide on the basis of extraordinary achievement and consistently high levels of excellence for at least three years in Patient Experience. The Press Ganey Pinnacle of Excellence Award is a highly regarded symbol of achievement in the health care industry.
“The caregivers and staff members of Shriners Hospitals for Children — Salt Lake City touch the lives of patients and their families in profound ways,” said Patrick T. Ryan, chairman and chief executive officer, Press Ganey. “This award reflects their deep commitment to listening to the voices of their patients and our shared mission to reduce suffering and improve the safety, quality, and experience of patient-centered care.”
In addition to the Pinnacle of Excellence Award, the hospital was also awarded the 2020 Guardian of Excellence Award for Patient Experience in Inpatient Pediatric. It is a nationally recognized symbol of achievement in health care. Presented annually, the award honors clients who consistently sustained performance in the top 5% of all Press Ganey clients for each reporting period during the course of one year.
“To be chosen for these two awards exemplifies our dedication to the highest quality of care,” said David Polner, Chairman of the Board of Governors at the Salt Lake City hospital. “I am so proud that Shriners Hospitals for Children — Salt Lake City is getting recognized for what we have been doing for almost 100 years.”
