Kilee Gives Back – Again!

Burn Survivor Holds Annual Golf Outing in Gratitude for her Amazing Care

Burn survivor Kilee and her family presented a check for $43,931 to Shriners Hospitals for Children — Cincinnati on Tuesday, Nov. 10. The funds were a donation from the Kilee Gives Back Foundation and its annual golf outing, which was held at Elks Run Golf Course in September. The donation brings her total hospital contributions to more than $343,000 since 2015. Hospital staff members who provided care for her and her family were invited to the presentation.

Kilee was burned in a house explosion caused by a gas leak in 2014. She arrived at the Cincinnati Shriners Hospital in critical condition with burn injuries over 45% of her body. Kilee stayed at the hospital for 38 days before her initial discharge, returning multiple times for skin grafts and physical therapy.

“On this day six years ago, I never would have imagined how my life would change,” Kilee said. “I will always be grateful to Shriners [Hospitals] for giving me a second chance at life. Thanks to them, I am here today and can give back for all they’ve done for me.”

She and her family created the foundation to share her story and spread the good word about the Cincinnati Shriners Hospital. In addition to the golf outing, their efforts include co-authoring two books titled Beautiful Scars: A Life Redefined and Digger the Hero Dog, and appearing on The Doctors, a syndicated daytime medical program.

Today, Kilee lives in Newport, Kentucky, and recently graduated from Xavier University with a degree in communications.
