Zappos Adaptive Gives Generous Donation of Adaptive Children's Shoes to Patients
Zappos Adaptive made a generous donation of adaptive children’s footwear from the Arthur™ PBS Collection to patients at Shriners Hospitals for Children — Northern California. These shoes were specially designed for children of all abilities and include Arthur’s image printed on BILLY Footwear’s popular, high-top and low-top shoes. Each shoe features an elongated zipper allowing the top part of the shoe to open like a book so the wearer can slip it on and off with ease.
“Our hearts are full and we’re humbled by the opportunity to help make a positive impact on patients and their families’ lives through the PBS Arthur™ & Friends BILLY Footwear donation to Shriners Hospitals for Children across the country,” said Zappos Adaptive Business Development Manager Dana Zumbo. “The design of these sneakers is not only fun, but it also provides a functional solution to make getting dressed easier. The shoes are a great step in the direction of fashion inclusivity for all.”
The donation from Zappos Adaptive provides patients and families stylish shoe options that fit their child’s leg and foot orthoses. The Zappos Adaptive mission is to provide functional and fashionable products to make life easier for people with disabilities who often struggle to find shoe options that fit.
“With this donation, patients and families will be able to find the right shoe that fits them,” said director of development at the Northern California Shriners Hospital Alan Anderson. “Our Pediatric Orthotic and Prosthetic Services (POPS) team is looking forward to assisting patients by fitting them with the right pair of shoes while they are receiving care at our hospital.”
The staff members in the POPS department, who provide a full range of upper and lower extremity orthotics and prosthetics, as well as spinal orthotics and cranial helmets, were particularly grateful for the donation. The donation of adaptive shoes is a catalyst for empowering pediatric patients as they work to improve their mobility, comfort and confidence.
“This donation will allow our POPS staff to see how a patient’s braces are fitting and how they are working in conjunction with new, well-fitted shoes from Zappos Adaptive,” said POPS Manager Michael Wadekamper.
Thank you Zappos Adaptive for your generous donation!
