Bike Party Sacramento Brings Pedal-Powered Parade and Toys to Patients

Bike Party Sacramento brought a pedal-powered parade and a large donation of toys to Shriners Hospitals for Children — Northern California earlier this week. Bicycle riders dressed themselves and their bikes in festive holiday gear to bring smiles and holiday cheer to patients and their families. Patients looked down on the bikers in their decorated outfits, signs and bright lights while playing Christmas music in the background.

“Every year, Bike Party Sacramento makes a special appearance at our hospital for our patients,” said Community Relations Liaison Joseph Ramos. “The kids have fun watching everyone ride around in costumes, and we are so thankful to Bike Party Sacramento for donating so many gifts to our patients as well.”

The large toy donation will be given to patients when they wake up at the Northern California Shriners Hospital on Christmas morning.

“Giving back is especially important this year and our bikers are always excited to participate in this event for Shriners Hospitals for Children. The facemasks are a new element this year, but we’re glad we could still make this event happen for the patients and their families,” said Bike Party Sacramento board member and event coordinator Lawrence Risley. “We thank Shriners Hospitals for Children — Northern California for this cherished yearly opportunity, and we thank all of our volunteers and attendees who make this yearly event so special. And remember Sacramento, you can ride with us too!”

This is the sixth consecutive year Bike Party Sacramento has organized a Christmas-themed bicycle parade around the hospital for patients and their families. Due to COVID-19 precautions, patients stayed inside the hospital and looked down from the large front window on the second floor. There may be a shortage of group interaction at the hospital during the holidays this year, but thanks to community organizations like Bike Party Sacramento, there is no shortage of holiday spirit and cheer for children to enjoy.
