A Warm Welcome: Meet the Shriners Children’s Spokane Greeters
Within the walls of Shriners Children’s Spokane, dedicated medical professionals provide exceptional care to patients facing a range of pediatric orthopedic conditions.
Amid the hustling and bustling hallways is a group of dedicated volunteers known as the Shriners Greeters, a part of the local El Katif Shriners. The Greeters open their hands, and hearts, to each family who walks through the hospital doors. Members have spent years upon years volunteering their time creating an inviting space for patients, families and staff alike. Staff also enjoy the familiarity of Greeters in the lobby ready to assist our kids and support the hospital.
These compassionate individuals play a crucial role in welcoming both children and their families. Their mission is simple yet profound: to offer a sense of comfort, companionship, and solace to the families during their stay.
“As Shriners we look beyond ourselves to serve the needs of others,” said Noble Ken Massender. “My favorite part of being a Greeter is welcoming families to our hospital and seeing the difference we are able to make in each child's life.”
Known for their friendly demeanor, the Greeters create a caring atmosphere, where smiles replace worry and laughter becomes the best medicine. They embrace families by simply lending an ear, words of encouragement, or offering a warm welcome.
Beyond their role of welcoming visitors, the Greeters also serve as guides. They can offer directions and assistance to families navigating the hospital. They can also provide a wealth of knowledge about local Shrine Chapters and Shriners Children’s Spokane. The Greeters ensure patients leave with more than just memories. They help distribute handmade blankets and pillowcases to patients as a special memento to remind them of their stay.
Greeters understand that their role can greatly reduce stress and confusion for families visiting the hospital. Their compassion and dedication to the betterment of children is inspiring. They are a source of strength for the Shriners Children’s community, reminding everyone they are not alone in their journey.
