Kyle Deane, Ph.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist and researcher in pediatric psychology at Shriners Children’s Chicago, and a clinical assistant professor at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. Deane received his Ph.D. in clinical psychology at Loyola University Chicago, specializing in both clinical child psychology and neuropsychology. He completed his internship at Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital and his postdoctoral fellowship in pediatric psychology at Shriners Children's Chicago. As a pediatric psychologist, Deane provides evidence-based treatment and assessments with children and adolescents adjusting to chronic health conditions and physical disabilities.

Deane's research interests cover a variety of topics, including the implementation of psychological interventions, the effects of stressors/trauma, and adjustment to chronic health conditions, such as spinal cord injury. He developed and evaluated the effectiveness of a nationally funded intervention program designed to reduce violence exposure and promote psychosocial well-being among youth residing in low-income urban neighborhoods. He is currently investigating long-term outcomes among individuals with spinal cord dysfunction in order to identify risk and resilience factors that may be targeted to promote positive adjustment in this population, such as cognitive appraisals of disability. His research lab is currently developing a measure of appraisals following spinal cord injury to improve psychological interventions and rehabilitation programs.
