Krister Freese, M.D., is a Pacific Northwest native from Puyallup, Washington. He received his undergraduate degree from Pacific Lutheran University and went on to obtain his medical doctorate at the University of Washington. He subsequently completed his orthopedic residency at the University of Hawaii. He completed two fellowships, one in pediatric orthopedic surgery and a second in hand and upper extremity surgery in 2016, at the University of Colorado.
Dr. Freese has always enjoyed taking care of children. In medical school, he considered becoming a pediatrician, but was drawn to the technical aspects of orthopedic surgery. He is amazed by the resiliency and adaptability children demonstrate. It's one of the things that makes taking care of children a joy. He also finds the interactions he has with parents rewarding. He views his role as a guide to help families make the best decisions for their children in sometimes difficult circumstances.
Outside of work, Dr. Freese enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. They try to take advantage of all the Pacific Northwest has to offer. He enjoys snowboarding, soccer, hiking, woodworking, reading and studying Spanish.
