Ted Sousa, M.D., is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon in pediatric orthopedics. Dr. Sousa is a general pediatric orthopedic surgeon who specializes in the care of children with cerebral palsy, arthrogryposis and spina bifida, as well as other neuromuscular disorders.

Dr. Sousa is the medical director for the motion analysis center, where he participates in the hospital's research efforts on topics ranging from pediatric gait abnormalities and clubfoot deformity to general orthopedics.

He grew up in western Montana. He is a graduate of the University of Washington School of Medicine, where he earned his medical degree. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Washington School of Medicine, followed by a fellowship in pediatric orthopedics at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles. In addition, Dr. Sousa completed a clinical fellowship with an emphasis in cerebral palsy from Royale Children's Hospital in Melbourne, Australia. He came to the Shriners Children's Spokane to be the medical director of our clinical motion analysis center.

Dr. Sousa has a wide range of research interests including gait abnormalities, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, spinal deformity, trauma and general pediatric orthopedic surgery. He has authored or co-authored several papers in peer-reviewed journals.
