Patient & Family Support Services

Services to Support you and Your Child

At Shriners Children’s we are committed to supporting your child and your family throughout your journey with us.

We have a number of resources available to provide support throughout your child’s treatment at Shriners, including multidisciplinary specialists, rehabilitation services and emotional and psychological support.

These services will be included in your child's care plan as needed to aid in their treatment and recovery. If you have questions about our support services, please contact your child's care manager at the Shriners location where they are receiving their treatment.

Care Management

Care managers help coordinate all elements of your child's care by making the best possible use of available resources. Your child's care manager will work closely across our multidisciplinary teams to develop and manage their individualized care plan every step of the way.

Child-Life Therapy

Child-life therapy is available to reduce any stresses associated with your child's treatments, procedures and inpatient visits. This program offers various opportunities to play, learn and interact with others in an emotionally and socially safe environment.

Rehabilitation

Shriners Children's offers comprehensive rehabilitation as part of your child's care plan as needed. These services are designed to meet your child's physical, emotional, social, developmental and educational needs.

Physical Therapy

As part of your child's rehabilitation plan, physical therapy can be used to help them make improvements in their joint mobility, strength and level of function to promote independence and participation in physical activities.

Occupational Therapy

As part of your child's rehabilitation plan, occupational therapy can be used to improve independence in daily activities and routines. Our occupational therapists use tools to assess your child and establish individualized therapeutic methods unique to their lifestyle and needs.

Speech and Language Pathology

If your child has a condition that requires speech and language therapy as part of their rehabilitation, our speech therapists will work with them to help refine their communication skills and prevent swallowing disorders.

We Understand the Unique Medical Needs of Children

We provide vital, pioneering treatment from birth to age 18. Here, children have the opportunity to be evaluated and treated by doctors recognized as the best by their peers.
