After Your Visit

Caring For Your Child After Their Treatment

Following your child's visit to Shriners Children's, one of our registered nurses will reach out to you to check in and answer any questions and address any issues you might be experiencing with aftercare. This check-in call will take place within 24-72 hours of your child's discharge from the hospital.

If for any reason your child is experiencing side effects or you have questions related to their condition, you can always contact your care manager at your Shriners Children's location to follow up. Any medical inquiries that are unrelated to the condition that your child is being treated for, should be directed to their primary care provider.

Follow-up Appointments

A follow-up appointment is usually set by one of our patient access specialists before your child leaves the hospital. We will schedule this appointment to accommodate your family's needs. If you need to cancel or reschedule your child's follow-up appointment, you can do so in your patient portal or by calling your Shriners Children's location.

In some cases, virtual appointments can be scheduled through our telehealth service. You can inquire with your Shriners Children's location to see if this option is available and appropriate for your child's condition and their follow-up needs.

Using the Patient Portal to Manage Your Child's Care

For access to everything related to your child's care, you can log in to your patient portal. In there, you will have access to information like how to pay bills online, educational resources related to your child's condition and the ability to manage their appointments.

Your patient portal is best used for non-urgent requests. There is a standard turnaround time of 2-3 business days for requests made in the patient portal. The portal is not monitored after hours.

Access Your Child's Medical Records

If you need to obtain a copy of your child's medical records after their treatment, you can submit a request for release to Shriners Children's at any time.

You can submit your request by logging in to your patient portal or contacting the Shriners Children's location where your child receives their treatment.

Paying Your Bill

If your child is uninsured, or only partially insured, you may have bills associated with their treatment.

You can pay your bill by contacting your Shriners Children's location or online through our Pay a Bill feature.
