Un-Limb-ited Camps

Summer camp is held in July and winter camp is typically held at the end of February.

  • Summer camp application deadline: April 15
  • Winter camp application deadline: October 15

Who Can Attend

Un-Limb-ited camps, supported by Shriners Children's and our sponsors, are for Shriners Children’s teen patients who are living with limb loss or limb deficiency. Patients from any of the Shriners Children’s locations are eligible to attend.

Benefits of Camp

These camps offer a unique opportunity for teens to gain confidence and form strong bonds with other amputees while learning either adaptive skiing and snowboarding, or white water river rafting and camping in the Utah wilderness. Through activities and sports, Un-Limb-ited camps provide support for teens to better understand and use their prostheses. Through socialization activities and staff support, campers will explore issues common to teenage amputees, such as recreation, relationships, body image, bullying and self-esteem, while developing skills for future success.

The camps are staffed by hospital teams from Shriners Children's physical and recreational therapy departments, nursing, and pediatric orthotic and prosthetic services. Participants will receive professional instruction from the National Abilities Center and Holiday River Expeditions

Registration

There is no cost to participate in the Un-Limb-ited camps. Camp includes individualized instruction, equipment, food, lodging, and activities for the duration of the camp. For guaranteed consideration, applications for both camps must be submitted by November 1. Applications submitted past the deadline will be accepted but only considered if there are vacancies or cancellations.

To register, email Matt Lowell, camp director, or call 801-536-3615.

Donate and Become a Sponsor

Shriners Children’s Salt Lake City invites you to support our annual Un-Limb-ited camps for amputees. With your generous support, approximately 30 campers per year will spend five days and four nights learning to ski, snowboard or white water rafting. The campers not only learn active lifestyle skills and independence, but also have an opportunity to interact with peers who are also amputees. We would like to extend to you the opportunity to become sponsor.

Thank you again for your generous support as it will help in moving these young adults forward in a positive step toward adulthood.
