A Recognized Leader in Pediatric Specialty Care
Our team of specialists works with you to design a treatment program that focuses on the overall health and well-being of your child.
Your child’s team of physicians and specialists will be created to suit their individualized care needs. Designing this personalized plan is important to us because we believe that your child deserves a care plan as unique and special as they are.
Prior to your initial visit, you will be asked to provide us with your child’s medical records and any insurance information. For details on what is required, please visit our Patient Information page.
You’ll typically begin with a visit to our clinic. Here, we will evaluate your child and work with you to design a customized treatment plan.
Following the clinical evaluation and care plan development, you and your child will be introduced to their individualized team of specialists. Depending on the plan, your team may include social workers, registered nurses, child life specialists, dieticians, occupational therapists, physical therapists and therapeutic recreation consultants. Procedures or follow-up appointments will be booked with members from your child’s team of specialists according to their care plan.
We are committed to ensuring your child thrives at home, school and in their community. This includes providing your family with the highest quality of care, access to our in-house clinical services, traditional inpatient services and any other professional support services related to your child’s treatment plan.

When it comes to burns, treatment needs can vary quite a bit, so our specialists work with you to develop a care plan that best suits your child's condition. Beyond medical procedures, you can expect to have access to physical therapy and emotional support specialists as part of your child's treatment and recovery process.
Cleft lip and/or cleft palate occurs in approximately one out of every 700 hundred births. This condition is a result of the tissue in your child's lip and/or mouth not fully forming during pregnancy.
If your child has a cleft lip and/or cleft palate, we offer specialized surgical repair which can help prevent problems associated with their condition(s). Our surgeries can help regulate your child's breathing, speaking, and eating abilities, and enhance the reconstruction of their facial tissue for an improved cosmetic appearance.
Our facility has a world-class team of specialists who perform reconstructive surgery for scars, cleft lip and palate and burn-related injuries. We also perform a wide range of plastic, reconstructive and laser surgery on skin conditions, ear and hand deformities and other injuries. Shriners Children’s Boston is fully certified by the American College of Surgeons (ACS).
If your child requires plastic, reconstructive or laser surgery for their condition, our specialists will work with you to develop a plan which focuses on providing optimal healing and the best possible outcome available.
Because of our expertise in burn care, our specialists at Shriners Children’s Boston are also highly-qualified to provide care for children with a variety of difficult wound and skin disorders. Members of our wound care team are all highly-trained and experienced in caring for children with major burns, soft tissue injuries and blistering skin conditions.
If your child has traumatic wounds or skin blistering due to severe skin infections, reactions, frostbite, or other aggressive irritation, our specialists can assess their condition and develop an appropriate care plan for them. This medical assessment is important because wounds and skin conditions don't always heal on their own. Proper medical care will drastically increase the likelihood of a good outcome for your child.
